New Alice In Wonderland

Today my 13 year old was invited to go see the new Alice In Wonderland for a birthday party. I have to be honest and say that I am not a fan of Tim Burton movies. I've just never cared for them. I find them kind of visually creepy. If we didn't have this party I probably would have avoided taking the kids. Although I am a fan of Johnny Depp.

The girls were all excited to see it as they are doing a school play based on Alice In Wonderland this year. Now this is not a remake of Alice it is a continuation. Alice is older and falls down the rabbit hole. She runs into all the old gang and basically helps them against the Red Queen. I found the movie to be all over the place. Some of it was confusing. I know the Hatter is suppose to be mad, but after awhile it was annoying. As a whole his performance was good. I had no problems with Alice. I thought the actress did a nice job. The effects were a little much and I didn't even see it in 3D. The birthday girl got sick at the last 3D movie she saw so her mother passed on that. There were a few funny parts that kept the movie going. Also if you have small children there are a few scary parts. The Jabberwocky had a very scary look to him.

So overall I would say the movie was okay. I didn't love or hate it. My daughter agreed with me she thought it was okay. Her friends for the most part seemed to really like it. I'd have to say this is not a movie I would watch again. So if you were really looking forward to seeing it give it a try you may really like it. I just didn't have much of an opinion either way. This was an average movie.

It's nice to hear an idea of how it was. I am a big Tim Burton fan so am hoping that I love it but I have been hearing very mixed reviews.

I have no interest in seeing this. I watched Coraline with my daughter and it was too much for a little kid. The new Willie Wonka was just creepy and the original was so wonderful. Some movies shouldn't be remade.

I just watched this movie with my kids. The main reason was because of the 3D. Avatar did really change the movie making game. The second reason was because of Johnny D. I have always respected his work. This movie however was not one of his best. I agree with you on Tim Burton. I also think that the White Queen was actually the evil one and the Red queen was a misunderstood neglected child. The kids however loved the movie. ;o)
